Der historische Stadtkern von Thun im Kanton Bern, liegt nicht direkt am Thunersee, sondern etwa 1,5 Kilometer davon entfernt an der Aare. Thun ist die drittgrösste Stadt im Kanton Bern mit rund 45 000 Einwohner (2019)

Schon in der Jungsteinzeit  2500 v. Chr. gab es eine Siedlung im Gebiet des Stadtkerns, auch Pfahlbauersiedlungen in der Nähe und Funde aus der Bronzezeit bestätigen die frühere Bedeutung von Thun.

Der alte Stadtkern mit der Hauptgasse, der Unterstadt und vielen alten Gebäuden, dem Schloss Thun, der Stadtkirche und vielen weiteren Sehenswürdigkeiten, ist eine Reise wert.

As early as 2500 BC BC there was a settlement in the area of the city center, pile dwelling settlements nearby and finds from the Bronze Age confirm the earlier meaning of Thun.

The old town center with the main street, the lower town and many old buildings, the castle Thun, the town church and many other sights is worth a visit.
